This exhibit celebrates the work of Bert Shankman, an exceptional photographer and a dear friend of Photoworks. Bert was a member of the Coffee and Critique group for many years.  We honor his memory.

 

“My work is an immersion of my life in my art. I photograph flowers exclusively which I grow in my garden. Flowers are my metaphor for life. I see birth, death, pain, joy and exctasy in flowers. My objective is to give shape, texture and color to my feelings through the images I photograph. I am intensely passionate about my work. My intent is to relate an image, using flowers, that evokes a wide range of emotions. It is to be a mirror where I, the artist and the audience share the ability to see ourselves.”
