The Scurlock photographic studio located at 9th and U Street NW, was a fixture in the Shaw area of Washington, DC. from 1911 to 1994, and encompassed two generations of photographers, Addison N. Scurlock and his sons George and Robert. Addison Scurlock photographed the daily lives of the Washington DC community as well as Howard University faculty, students, and campus life. He and his sons Robert and George had a profound impact on the city and made beauty the center of their art.

Handmade Photo Group

At Glen Echo Photoworks

Every Monday at 6pm

We are a group of photographers who gather on Monday nights at 6:00 pm at Photoworks at Glen Echo Park to explore historic photo processes together, including but not limited to: cyanotype, salted paper, platinum/palladium and wet plate collodian. Sometimes we print; sometimes we chat and share ideas. Always we support and learn from each other.
