Classes are 5 sessions and are held at Photoworks unless otherwise specified

Smart Phone Photography Camp – Basic/Int (Age11-17) – Richard Batch $290

Class 1: M-F, Jun 26-30, 9am-1pm; Class 2: M-F, Jul 10-14, 1-5pm;

Class 3: M-F, Jul 24-28, 9am-1pm

Learn how to use the great camera in a smart phone to take fabulous pictures. Creative composition and creative apps are explained. On the last day, we will have a slide show open to parents and guests and students will receive prints of their best photos. More info: rabatch@comcast.net.


Darkroom Photography Camp: Basic/Int (Age 12+) – Karen Keating $450

Class: M-F, Jun 26-30, 9am-3pm

Increase your photography interest in this b/w film class. Explore your unique vision through the lens and darkroom! Daily shooting, film developing and darkroom work will give students a set of personal images. Students must provide a 35mm slr manual “working” camera. Supply fee: $60 for photo paper and 5 rolls of film paid to instructor. More info: kwkeating@comcast.net.


Digital Photography Camp (Ages 11-18) – Rebecca Drobis $325

Class 1: M-F, Jun 26-30, 3-5pm; Class 2: M-F, Jul 17-21, 3-5pm

This exciting course will provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the world of digital imaging. Students will begin with the basics of digital capture, and learn to express their creativity using their own digital camera. No prior photo or digital experience necessary.

Darkroom Photography Creativity Camp Int/Adv (Age 12+) – Karen Keating $375

Class: M-F, Jul 10-14, 9am-1pm

Experiment with the plastic lens cameras to create narratives and turn surprise images into gems! Creative tools will include painting with developer, toning prints, photo collages, and an introduction to small photo books. Personal image creativity encouraged. A $60 supply fee, payable to instructor, for camera use, film (5 rolls), and paper. Intermediate level, darkroom experience necessary. More info: kwkeating@comcast.net.


Street Shooting Photography Camp (Ages 14+) – Karen Keating $350

Class: M-F, Jul 17- 21, 9am-12:30pm

An intermediate course to capture visual moments on the street. After looking at master street photographers, students will take trips to Bethesda, Tenleytown, and U Street. Presentation of best images will be shown on Friday. Film or digital capture, basic darkroom or computer skills required. More info: kwkeating@comcast.net.


Digital Photography Camp: Edit & Print (12 +) – Sheila Galagan $325

Class: M-F, July 17-21, 1-3pm

Learn how to use Lightroom to edit and improve your photos and make prints. After shooting in the Park each day, we will edit photos to make them their best and print your favorites. Bring a digital camera, not your cell phone, to class. More info: sgalagan@verizon.net.


Digital Photography Camp: Zoofari (Ages 11-16) – Sora DeVore $325

Class 1: M-F, Jul 24-28, 9-11am; Class 2: M-F, Jul 31-Aug 4, 9-11am

Students will meet at Glen Echo Photoworks on Monday to learn or review camera details and composition. Tuesday and Wednesday class will meet at the National Zoo to practice skills and explore creativity. Thursday class is at Photoworks to download, review, and edit photos. Elementary Digital Photography Camp (Ages 8-11) – Sheila Galagan $325

Class: M-F, Jul 10-14, 10am-12pm, Photoworks

Learn about digital photography in Glen Echo Park. Bring your digital camera (not your cell phone) to class and learn techniques to make your photos more interesting: composition, aperture, and shutter speed. Different shooting assignments each day. Your best photos will be printed.
